When people think about body positivity issues, the first thing that comes to mind is how it affects girls. However, body positivity issues affect boys as well, starting in their tween years. Just like tween girls, tween boys have things that trigger them to dislike what the reflection shows them from a young age. The difference is that for girls, it is about being thin enough and wearing the right clothes. For boys, it is worrying about being too small and finding ways to bulk up or have a more defined jawline, according to Vision. And unless parents can find a way to open the lines of communication about body image and positivity, it will not be discussed. As such, providing body-positive books for tween boys may be a good place to start to do this.
