The U.S. News and World Report – Jill Castle
It’s a New Year, and a new decade. It’s an opportunity to assess what’s working in life and where improvements can be made. Parents are often interested in the best foods for their kids or the latest trick to get them to eat. I get it. The job of feeding children isn’t easy, and parents have a strong desire to raise healthy children. So what can be done to achieve this goal and ensure kids eat well by improving “food parenting” in 2020 and beyond?

The Daily Monitor – Carolyne B. Atangaza
Although children need rational, open-minded and loving parents, they also need parents who can enforce the rules by exercising their authority. When parents are not willing to assume the parental role, children become anxious and feel lost. Likewise, when they make for them every decision, it gives them the impression that they are unable to make good choices, which ultimately affects their adulthood. “It is possible for parents to fulfill their role without sacrificing their relationship with their children. Parents should provide a platform for their children to express their opinions and listen to what their children have to say, they can respect their children’s feelings and remain firm while setting boundaries,” Kharono advises.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel – Alison Sherwood
Food is up there with sleep as one of the most challenging aspects of parenting young kids. We all want our kids to eat well-balanced meals without complaint, but there’s no formula for making that happen. I’ve swapped notes with most parents I know on this topic, and we all face struggles. I wouldn’t consider any of my kids picky eaters, but we go through periods where drama surrounds every meal, no matter how kid-friendly I think it is.

The Record – Staff Writer
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, and can range in seriousness from mild to life-threatening. Pneumonia can affect anyone, but the age groups at highest risk are children younger than age 2 and people older than age 65. “When we talk about pneumonia, we’re referring to an infection in the lungs,” says Dr. Nipunie Rajapakse, a Mayo Clinic pediatric infectious diseases specialist. “Pneumonia can be caused by both bacteria and viruses, and, in rare cases, fungi, as well.”
