I was at the beach the other day and I noticed a little boy, around 9 years old, there with several older women. One of the women seemed to be the boy’s grandmother and she sat and chatted with her friends while the little boy swam.

His report pointed to an alarming rise in youth suicide attempts and emergency visits for mental health concerns, particularly since the pandemic began. Meanwhile, three leading groups of pediatric health professionals have declared a national emergency in youth mental health and called for sweeping changes in psychiatric care systems.

While a lot of people prefer summer, winter is still the favorite season for a lot of people. There are families who love going outside and skiing, skating, and tobogganing. They then love to come inside a warm-up by a fire with some hot chocolate. All of this sounds like the perfect day for a lot of families out there. Winter can be fun, but it can also be dangerous. Winter storms can cause traffic and driving problems, it can cause people to be stuck inside with no power and there are always the threats of frostbite and other illnesses related to being too cold.

As a child gets older, priorities start to change for them, and this is particularly true when it comes to school. As a young child, they want to learn how to read, play music and mix colors. As they age, certain other things start to become more important and this is largely based on social development and the impact of peer pressure. Children start to be very focused on being well-liked and popular. The drive to be popular can become very strong in some children, and they are willing to do just about anything to fit in with the “cool” crowd, or at the very least not be seen as an outsider.

Experts are talking about what the holiday can do to a child’s mental health, and stress plays a large part. The holidays are supposed to be a fun time for all, or at least that is the way it is portrayed. However, that is not always true. Christmas is a hard time for a lot of people out there for various reasons. Some families could be missing loved ones, as they get ready to celebrate their first holiday without them. Families may be struggling financially, and not able to provide what they think they should be for their children.
