Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems affecting American kids. 7.1% of U.S. children–about 4.5 million kids–have a diagnosed anxiety disorder. This number doesn’t include the children who may be suffering from anxiety, but haven’t been diagnosed. When a child is struggling with intense anxiety, it can affect the whole family. Anxious children may have trouble sleeping, throw tantrums more often, or have a hard time separating from parents when going to school or other activities.
