“Continuing to offer vegetables, even if your child refuses them at first, is the most effective way of getting greens into their diet, a study review reveals. Incorporating greens into children’s everyday meals also encourages them to give vegetables a try, the review found. Non-food rewards, such as stickers, are also effective, the research adds. Families should also aim to all eat the same meals. This is because children may be encouraged to try vegetables if they see their parents enjoying them, the researchers said. Study author Dr Emma Haycraft from Loughborough University, said: ‘It might feel as if they’ll never accept vegetables, but tastes are always changing. Gentle encouragement to try a disliked food is important for helping children to learn to like new tastes.”(more)
