The children of overweight parents are not destined to inherit their parents’ weight problems, according to a new study from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. The results of a one-off health assessment of 1,800 Australian children, aged 11 to 12 years, has found that one in four (27 percent) are overweight, but the researchers say it is not evitable that children will inherit the body shape or weight of their parents.
