Autistic children struggle with hidden emotions

Published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, the study is the first to investigate whether children with autism can recognize when one emotion is masking a different feeling that can only be identified from contextual cues, for example a crying man being happy rather than sad because he is at his daughter’s wedding.
