Introverted tweens are the rare breed of kids who listen more than they speak. Often labeled as “shy,” introverts let others participate in class, may not enjoy team sports, have few friends, and may spend a good deal of time in their rooms. While this may sound like this breed of tweens is experiencing depression, they are happy with their lives this way. It is when they are put on the spot or are pushed into activities that make them uncomfortable that introverted tweens become unhappy. As such, parents need to be aware of how to tread so that they can boost their introverted tween’s self-esteem rather than break it down.
