Helping parents—and their kids—eat better

The dietary habits of parents affect how children eat, but a new study investigated just how much influence a parent’s food preferences and patterns pass on to their kids. The study, published in Nutrition, used data from the Family Life, Activity, Sun, Health, and Eating Study from 2014.1 The study examined parenting practices and interventions that benefit or harm healthy eating practices in a household. Parents are key to setting the stage for good behaviors, the report concludes.
